Gifting with Orgone

At some point in your experience with orgone, you’ll discover the miraculous healing and balancing effects of working with orgone energy devices, commonly known as HHGs (Holy Hand Grenades) and TBs (Tower Busters.) This is an entirely natural outcome. You know what it has done for you, your family, and friends. You’ve watched it take "old sourpusses" and turn them into thoughtful angels, conscious of their ugliness. You’ve watched the ugliness around your home and neighborhood shift into something higher and nobler. You’ve seen your plants, pets, and water become simply alive after having these things about.

And, at some point, you’ll want to share this gift with others.

Truly, it is a gift. It’s the gift of life, taken away from us by those forces in religion, metaphysics, and government who don’t want you to be, all you can be. Orgone devices don’t give life, they retrieve life stolen from you.

That life was stolen through subliminal, hypnotic suggestions imbedded in radio, television, and through the very air itself, courtesy of these "towers." It was stolen from us by the flouride put in our drinking water, the processed sugars put in our foods, and by the lies and distortions placed in our minds, by the false history books, taught by false teachers.

When the gift of orgone came into your life, things began to appear as they really are. The beautiful, as well as ugly. As the weeks pass and your environment adjusts to the restored and balanced frequencies of what it should normally be, the sheer magnitude and volume of the assault upon the human condition becomes very apparent. And then, something happens inside you.

You know what you need to do.

You know that in order for you to do be truly free, you must also free those around you. Your sense of right and wrong – buried from years of self-interest or for other reasons – is now your daily guidepost. That guide within you – your conscience – is shouting from deep within your heart to take the gift given you, and give it to others.

With that in mind…

Place a full sized Croft HHG on the water main going to your house. Do this first. Not only are you orgonizing your water, but the water of your neighborhood. Orgone dilutes of negative energetic effect of the poison, flouride, though not the chemical aspects of it. By gifting your water main, you are sending healing energy, via the water itself, out to your area, because orgonized water is conductive and spreads, even against the flow of water itself. In fact, gifting water itself would be a whole chapter, all by itself. If you are on a well system, place an HHG over the main pipe coming out of your pump that feeds your house. Whatever the situation, get your water orgonized. One pint-sized HHG or larger will be sufficient to handle any volume your residence may use.

Place HHGs under your beds, over your fridge, on your water heater, and in your gardens, spaced 15 feet apart, the ionizing limit of orgone, in a standard pint/half-pint configuration. For Scalar energy, the range is much further, a few miles in fact. But for the plants in your area, most hhgs have a limited range and this can easily be seen (this was demonstrated to Don Croft in December of 2002, by taking him to a small field where I had placed a single, half-pint hhg near a large series of planted Oleander bushes. Where the hhg was placed, everything within 15 feet of it was double size, double stalks, and radiant – beyond that, same old, same old. This is the ionizing effect of orgone, on plants.)

Put HHGs at each corner of your property, even if its just an apartment. Doing this creates a grid zone of energetic energy, that will help stave off the negative effects of cell phone microwave transmissions and also, as has been demonstrated to me on countless occassions, forces paranormal entities such as ghosts, poltergeists, astral demonic types, and black magicians outside the grid. The base of trees are especially wonderful places to put hhgs – given what a tall tree does for its neighborhood – giving it a boost of energy will help it "de-smog" the pollutants it breathes in.

Put small hhgs or tbs over your TV and computer monitors, right on top. Any source of ELF/VLF energy needs its very own orgone device. That hhg will work harder than any other in your home, dissipating the negative effects of these common household items, that we all use daily. No one person can advise you on the amount of HHGs or TBs to place in your home, as every situation is naturally different.

The theme thus far is…get your home environment in order first. You can’t give, if you are under the gun, so clear out the old stuff so you can be who you should be, without extra-dimensional or outside interference. In some places, like New York or Los Angeles, many are needed in a home – say twenty – to get the same effects and protection as six would get you in, say, Colorado or Montana. Your heart will tell you when your are there. Listen to it.

When your home is done, now place at least TWO HHGs in your automobiles. One under the front seat, one in the trunk; if you have a truck, one under the seat, another TB in the rear bumper – you’ll figure out how to get one in there that will stay there. You’ll be a travelling field of orgone, bringing freedom wherever you go. It will also stop predators who are sitting outside your home grid from hurting you as you leave to go about your daily life. As many orgone aware people can attest – and they have countless times – car accidents, astral spooks, and cops looking for a victim, have all gone bazocko in the presence of orgone, allowing you to safely travel with you and yours. This is important. Very often, maliciously focused persons and government agencies are just sitting around the corner, waiting for you to leave. This being the case, some good energy can only help out and it has on several occasions to many of us since our introduction into this wonderful technology.

Next on our list would be your immediate environs. Where you work, where you shop, the gas station(s) you frequent – any place that is part of your routine should have hhgs and tbs already there and waiting for you when you arrive. I’ve gifted restaurants I go to, shopping centers, gas stations, parks, friend’s homes (even without their knowledge, if I have to be around there) – anywhere that is your daily routine, should have orgone in place. The amount of devices is, again, up to the dictates of where you live and what your heart tells you. Sometimes, a single gift does it all. Other times, you need a whole bag, just to "set things a’right." Bag them all and as Tiospaye1 often says, "let God sort them out."

Having faithfully done the above, its time to grid your hometown, the place you live and move and have your being. Start from the streets directly adjacent to your home. Go up one street and down the next, for miles in each direction. Get the parks, every ivy bush, trees, ditches – everywhere you can put a gift, do it. You are center to the hub of a great and ever expanding grid-wheel and see to it that this grid grows in size each month or whenever practicable. Many have done this with great success and report excellent results from the community – better attitudes, a vibrant and healthy plant and aviary life, and a far better atmosphere all around than was ever there before.

What you are doing is freeing the world around you. By this process, you are disabling underground bases, cell towers and their negative effects, black magicians, and satanists who live in your area. You are freeing the many from the dogma of the church and are forcing law enforcement to rethink what they have allowed themselves to become. Parents become better parents, children better adjusted and normalized. The years ahead no doubt will reveal much; as yet, the data is too new and baselines are just now being established. On the whole, all fronts and aspects of life show a much improved increase in vitality and radiance.

If gifting known baddies (places that are well known spots of negativity) bothers you, then take a different tact. Just keep making the grid bigger. Start with your town and gift every street possible or at least every other street. Then the adjacent towns and cities, and so forth. Within three to five months, you’ll have freed either thousands or millions, depending upon where you live.

Going After Targets

Sticking rotting, dead bodies into the soil is generally perceived by the more advanced cultures as something to be avoided. Cemetaries quickly become manmade vortexes used by astral and etheric entities as entryways into our world. Souls are often trapped there, caught by the vortex while passing through or by their own ignorance, because the etheric web around their well preserved heart hasn’t dissolved yet. Either way, the thing to do is gift these places with a vengeance. Several things will happen. The negative vortex will start to slow its CCW spin and eventually stop. Souls trapped, will be freed. Soured ground, over time, will return to its normal state, though we do not know as yet how long that will take. Dorks who like to do satanic rituals at the more infamouse graveyards, will find their mojo "no longer worky."

Masonic, Mormon, and Esoteric Order Temples

My, these places deserve everything that is coming to them. Ritual abuse, child murder and kidnapping, black magic incantations – the works. These places are also mini-manmade vortexes, but on a lesser scale. Very often, these sites are chosen for their place within the greater Major and Minor arcana Grid, for the express purpose of hijacking our planet for dark purposes. Every city, township, and locale across the globe has them, and this is not by accident. Over gift these places. Take them down. Time to end the dark influence in our lives and it must start with these esoteric orders.

If the location or organization claims to serve humanity, they will want to be gifted. If their motives are not on the up and up, then they need it to see the light, so to say, that they so often brag about bringing to the world. Grid gifting, gets them all. Up one street and down the next. You’ll be glad you did.

Law Enforcement (Cop Shops)

Need I say more? Who do you think the politicians will be using to slam down on the people first, before they deploy the National Guard? What group of armed men are given lists by the FBI for harrassment to known dissidents and truth-seekers? Who will often empty their guns into an un-armed man, then cry aloud, "it was self-defense! He made a furtive movement!? Who do you see in the news beating the hell out defenseless teenage girls with oak and steel nightsticks? Who covers the CIA’s butt in the field, when one of their drug couriers goes off the reservation? Who harrasses orgone gifters, as they bring freedom to the world? Who needs to be necklaced with a dozen of TBs at each cop shop?

Urban Areas (no plants or ivy around)

These are the toughest to gift, because the natural thing to do is to get the TB or HHG in the ground or in water. In heavy industrial areas or inner cities, plant life literally doesn’t exist there, for your gifts of love. One solution that we’ve taken to doing is tossing them on the roofs of small business – drug stores, dry cleaners, pet shops, whatever. Sure, the next time someone repairs their roof or gets up there for some reason, they may discover it and treat it like trash. But, it does get orgone in places that otherwise wouldn’t, and until its found, those babies are working it 24/7, 365 days a year! And, operating under the principle that there is no such thing as a wasted gift, even if your hhg or tb is trashed, it then goes to a city dump, where it work its little heart out, helping mother Earth clean up our ongoing mess.

The only thing worse than a nuke or a cemetary, is a battlefield. You don’t have to be energy sensitive to sense and feel the horror that is a battlefield, whether its Gettysburg (a very nasty energy site, brrr) or something that happened thousands of years ago in Greece or Carthage. Very often, there are still souls trapped there – for centuries – who cannot escape, still fighting the battle, unable to leave. The ground is soured, the aura of death extends literally for miles beyond the actual site (visit Fredericksburg at Marie’s Heights, if you want to understand this completely) and surely, each of these deserves your best bag of orgone. You’ll heal the ground, stop the vortex, close the portal, and free souls ALL IN THE SAME DAY. Those of you on the East Coast of America have plenty to do in this regard. This goes for any historical site where humans slaughter humans for any reason. GET THEM ALL, let god sort them out.

Wards for the dying, birthing houses for the masses, and money machines for the AMA. That about describes what a hospital is. Once in awhile, they’ll fix your broken hand or drain your ear. The aura around hospitals are…well…usually dark grey and brown, with heavy bands of even darker grey, when viewed clairvoyantly.

Reservoirs, streams, lakes and waterways of any kind.

The wonder of gifting water cannot be overstated. Time and again, orgone aware folks have witnessed amazing results by gifting these places. For freshwater, make them well, make them strong, get them in as deep as possible and at as many points as is practicable. Try and get them in and around the shores of these places, as well. We are still gathering data on water gifting and the years ahead will reveal much. For Salt water, its been decided that glass, thus far, is the best container and the reason for this is salt chlorides, which as any surfer can tell you, eat everything and quickly – except glass. Resin is permeable, and salt water telegraphs itself right through the cracks and crannies, no matter how tiny and goes straight to work, eating your metal composition. Salt water can take a normal hhg and turn it to mush in less than thirty days. There are directions for building devices just for the ocean on the Croft Forum board, referenced at the end of this article.

Another great place to put orgone devices is in the storm drains. Take the same tact as you would when area gifting above ground, by gridding. Up one street and down the next, popping them in the drains. Often these will do more than just vitalize the sewage, but works towards healing your area using both water and Mother Earth at the same time. The gifts will ultimately move around, hither and yon, taking their goodness with them, upsetting underground parasites and getting near all those nasty and ancient tunnels without the gifter ever getting wet with stankage. Should they then move out to sea, so much the better. When gifting storm drains, it would be a good idea to give your TBs an extra coating of resin, to help it last longer in all the solvents, sewage, and eventually, salt water. The longer they stay whole, the longer they stay working.

Hell on earth. That’s what a prison is. 85% of all inmates are incarcerated for non-violent, non-victim crimes, thanks to the Bush Crime Syndicate in power since 1963. The numbers don’t lie. For Prisons, given that they are under such tight security, its best to make Super HHGs and necklace the location at a safe and practical distance to the gifter. Trespassing on state and government land, might well land you in one of these, so be wise, be safe, and gift with POWER, instead of placement.

Microwave and so-called "cell phone" towers

Well, these nasty little gifts from NATO countries to its citizens, are a top priority for gifting. Often, they are hidden as palm trees, douglas firs, or just big, huge ugly flat-panel towers. They are not what they appear to be. These arrays are also hidden in Shell, Texaco, and Exxon gas station signs, church steeples, tacked onto office buildings, on the sides of schools! They have nothing to do with cell coverage and everything to do with obliterating your ability to function normally as a human being. Orgone aware people GIFT THESE FIRST and never look back. Like water gifting, gifting the towers is one of the greatest acts of freedom and kindness you can do for your fellow human being.

Nuclear Power Plants

The dingy orange and brown aura of these places, often purposely placed on grid points (well established by researchers), as well as their CCW vortex, require POWER gifting to undo. We’ve gifted many such sites with satisfactory results. Super HHGs, well placed, as well as a good smattering of hhgs and tbs in the LAARP "necklace" fashion, will insure that the negative effects of such human stupidity will be offset as much as can be done. Again, caution is as advised. Trespassing on Federal land is a bigtime no no, on Fascist Earth, so gift these places wisely. Federal installations are under constant tight survellience – video and satellite. Be smart, don’t be obvious, and don’t trespass around nukes. Just make your HHGs as powerful as you can get them and leave the rest to nature.

Haunted Houses and the like

You’ve read the books, seen the shows all over the TV, and you should know that a few, well-placed HHGs will undo the imprature established by the horror, that made the place haunted in the first instance. Murders, evil-doings, lost souls, bad times, Asylums, Old prisons no longer in use – all of these have to be gifted.

Underground tunnels and bases

Very often, many cities have ancient labyrinths still in use and expanded for the express purpose of moving people and meteriel around without the public’s awareness. Your tax dollars at work, without your knowledge or consent. Nuclear facilities – targets of environmental groups – are frequently found in these places, to power underground bases without the usual, tell-tale signature of tapping into the mainstream power grid. If these can be found, the DOR effects of these places can be offset in the very same fashion as above ground nukes. Gift when found – proceed with caution, as always.

Daycare Centers and Schools

How many times to we have to read yet another horror story about a daycare center involved in satanic ritual abuse? The reports number in the tens of thousands. Schools, from kindergarten through Post Graduate, deserve the same freeing source of goodness as any place, and especially the K through 12. Gift all schools. You’ll be doing the kids a big favor. Remember schools have gardeners who constantly piddle around doing the gardening thing. Just tossing them in a bush, may not have them left there for very long. This often being the case, in less you can find lots of ivy around, its best to go after hours, take a small hand spade, and dig them in deep. Being under a few inches of earth will in no way stop your gifts from doing all they can do – in fact, its been well established that burying hhgs and tbs increases their range. Fact.

Bars, distilleries, and Sex shops

No description needed. Gift every one you find. The ghouls and blood-sucking astral entities will not be able to suck the energy off the patrons as they’ve been doing for thousands of years, once gifted. Who knows? Maybe thousands of alcoholics will finally lose their taste for the green demon of booze, once their favorite watering hole no longer has the old vibe? Anything can happen.

Forests, Parks, and places of nature

If not you, who? If not now, when? Nature deserves as much attention as any city. Moreso, some would say. The forest lands of today are not what they used to be, even as little as twenty years ago. The flora and fauna of this planet need their world returned to them and what better way to give Mother Nature a boost than to gift her frequently with orgone? Having carpeted a few forests, the response witnessed has been truly wonderful – fresher water, more abudant wildlife, and a very visible and grateful aviary population. If you find that you may be driving through a forest one day, bring a BIG bag of TBs and toss them every mile on your trip through.

Neighbors and Friends

Making your neighbors aware of the benefits of orgone should be a natural – unless of course, you are surrounded by dunderheads! That can easily be solved by gifting them anyways! A little orgone in your neighbor’s oleander bush or ivy usually has a great way of making them act…almost human again. Hell, you might even learn their name and start waving to them, like people USED TO DO.

High Voltage Power Lines

The ugly, negative etheric energy (brown) that radiates a foot off these lines, kills the life-force of the Earth underneath them. Gift these Hi-tension wires whenever found. The electrical system of our world has not brought progress, it has taken us down a dark road and for so long now, no one alive remembers how vibrant the world used to be. This must end now.

Freeway and Highway system

Very often, the state and federal planners designed the highway system along specific points and for specific reasons. If you happen to live in an extremely large city and rightfully feel overwhelmed at taking on such a huge task as grid gifting, do we what started doing – which is – start gifting along the highways and freeways that criss-cross through your town. Use the already in place grid of these systems and put them every half mile. In a very short time, you’ll have completely gridded your city with orgone. It will make a world of difference.

Out and About

Make sure you keep a personal orgone device on your person – pendant, TB, or some such thing, so that you become your very own field of orgone, no matter the circumstance. This will assure you that clear, uncluttered energy is with you, healing, serving, and cleansing wherever life’s path may lead you. It will also aid in protecting you against foul play.

Over gifting

There is no such thing as over-gifting. The reason this is so, is because TPTB constantly search for these orgone creations and try to remove them. Gifts are found, taken home, thrown away, or kicked into the street and lost. That’s life. In high profile target areas, a great many are needed, in case some of them are found as described. In high-density cities like Los Angeles or New York, sometimes gifts need to be placed a few hundred feet apart, instead of miles. Your heart will tell you.

Gifting should be fun and in fact, its exhilerating! Bringing such freedom to total strangers in areas you may or may not go to is a total blast. The smile that appears on your face lasts a very long time. Still, gift safely. Don’t break laws that will land in you a place where the man can do whatever he wants to you – and he will, given half a chance. Don’t trespass on Federal land, cuz nowadayz, they’ll call you a terrorist and throw away the key…after they torture you. Don’t toss TBs from your car with a cop sitting behind you or you’ll discover your area’s littering laws firsthand. And today, in America at least, if they can bust you for one thing, it gives them an automatic right to search your car or even seize it, depending upon your state. Don’t give them a reason to ruin your life, because the simple fact of the matter is, they will look for ANY reason, at ANY time, to stop your gifts to humanity.

No, boys and girls, cops – federal, military, or local – are not the nice sweethearts who love their country’s citizens. They follow orders. They will gleefully ruin your life, if you give them any excuse whatsoever. Gift safely. Gift wisely. And many times, gift S I L E N T L Y.

In reality, anyplace is a good place to gift. If the idea of gifting some location occurs to you, follow that nudge and do it. Don’t make excuses Not To Be. The more visible the hand of oppression in your world, the more necessary that fist needs the freeing gift of orgone. There is a reason you are reading this article – perchance The Life has picked you to help out. Its time to take advantage of that opportunity and here is one important thing you can do that actually goes beyond whining and moaning about the sad state of affairs in our world.

Gifting is action oriented. No one can tell you how wonderful it is, until you try it for yourself. With very little money, a dedicated person can take their community and restore its sanity, offset any dark influences, and change the course of history on a local level, with postive, outward repercussions that will travel over the world. But that does not describe the majority of men and women.

If you are a spineless do-nothing, who prefers to attack, slander, and hand-wring your daily life away, gifting even your own family and street may seem like too much of a bother to you. There are several orgone aware people who have tons of time making up excuses and reasons why they can’t find twenty dollars for a gallon of resin, which easily makes 48 TBs – more than enough to cover an area miles in circumference.

Many orgone aware people are also extremely poor. Several vendors on this forum have made it very clear that if that accurately describes your situation, the TBs you need are often shipped to you at no charge. Time and again, men and women have offered hhgs and TBs to people for mere pennies on the dollar, to help out any SINCERE person who finds themselves in such predicaments.

Gift, don’t gift, its all up to you. Never before have so many depended upon so few and in a world crisis as now presents itself. Are you ready to do some good today? Throw down and stand tall for freedom?

We hope so.

The strange case of the TETRA lines from the national research-based TETRA Airwave safety campaign

Curious, unexplained, but true

The story of TETRA lines emerged in Sussex, but has since turned up all over the country. They are a strange phenomenon about which I have been able to discover nothing in terms of the technology, or of general electrical engineering principles, and certainly they are unresearched.

What are TETRA lines?

These are just the straight lines from one TETRA mast to another.

  • They are not line of sight, since some are over the horizon, and miles from the nearest mast.
  • They are not microwave links lines (ie where some masts have dish antennae to communicate, where land lines are unavailable).
  • They do not represent the routes of underground cables.
  • They appear to be uniques to the TETRA network, not to mobile masts in general.

Basically there is nothing there, except these imaginary lines that can be drawn on a map.

Vitamin C (and H2O2) ‘helps to fight cancer’

Vitamin C ‘helps to fight cancer’

High doses of vitamin C injected into the bloodstream may help fight cancer, a US study says.

Scientists found that intravenous vitamin C in the form of ascorbate killed cancer cells in lab tests.

The findings contradict earlier studies, but the Maryland-based Institutes of Health said they had looked at lower-dose oral vitamin C.

‘Cancer experts’ said the "overwhelming" evidence still suggested vitamin C was not an effective treatment.

Studies in the 1970s first suggested the administration of high doses of vitamin C could help treat cancer, but later research did not back this up.

In the latest study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers conducted laboratory experiments which simulated clinical infusions of vitamin C on a range of nine cancer and four normal cells.

In five of the cancer lines, there was a 50% decrease in cell survival, while normal cells were unaffected.

A more detailed look at lymphoma cells – which were especially sensitive to ascorbate – showed they were killed completely.

The effective dose was around four millimoles, a concentration much higher than an oral dose but easily achievable by intravenous infusion.

Researchers were unable to explain what caused the results, although they did note the treatment led to the formation of hydrogen peroxide, a chemical ‘known to be toxic to cells’.

Alternative medicine practitioners have already administered high doses of intravenous ascorbate.

Lead researcher Dr Mark Levine said the treatment would have to be proved safe before being given to patients.

I just got back from a FEMA Detainment Camp

I’m extremely depressed to report that things seem to only be getting sadder concerning the people so devastatingly affected by Katrina last week. Two car loads of us headed over to Falls Creek, a youth camp for Southern Baptist churches in Oklahoma that agreed to have its facilities used to house Louisiana refugees. I’m afraid the camp is not going to be used as the kind people of the churches who own the cabins believe it was going to be used.

Jesse Jackson was right when he said "refugees" was not the appropriate word for the poor souls dislocated due to Katrina. But he was wrong about why it is not appropriate. It’s not appropriate because they are detainees, not refugees.

Falls Creek is like a small town that is closed down about 9 months out of the year. It is made up of cabins that range from small and humble to large and grandiose, according to how much money the church who owns the cabin has. Each cabin has full kitchen facilities, bathrooms and usually have two large bunkrooms – one for women and one for men. The occupancy of the cabins varies according to the church. This past week the Southern Baptist association of Oklahoma offered the facility as a place to house refugees from the Katrina disaster. Each church owning a cabin was then called to find out if they would make their cabin available. Churches across the state agreed.

I started my journey by loading six large trash bags full of clothes in the back of my beetle buggy. I then went to the local Dollar General and purchased various hygiene products, snacks and even a set of dominoes and a deck of cards. I had my daughter take her own shopping cart and go and select her own items that she wanted to take. I told her to imagine herself without anything in the world and then select what she would need to live every day.

We then met up with my elderly parents who had gone to the Dollar Store themselves, and to the grocery store and had spent WAY too much of their limited social security on the venture. But that’s okay. We ended up having to take both vehicles on the 150 mile round trip because they were both pretty full. My son showed up and wanted to go. He drove my parents while my daughter and I rode in my car.

To say we all left with excitement would be appropriate. My 78 year old mother is a "fixer". She loves to help people and she absolutely needs some one to dote over. That she was about to be able to help some people who had lost all in their lives had her feeling physically healthier than I’ve seen her in days. I was glad to get the chance to actively do something other than donate what little I can to some faceless charity hoping it would get to the people who needed it. I felt glad I could do some small something that might cut through the helplessness I’ve felt over this situation. Both of my kids were eager to assist.

The only odd thing that occurred prior to setting off happened while I was gassing up in our small town. My daughter was pumping the gas and a lady she knew pulled up to an adjacent pump. My daughter started telling her where we were going and that we were taking things to the refugees. The lady told my daughter that she had been told the Red Cross was not allowing any one to deliver supplies. When I returned to the car from paying for the gas my daughter informed of this. I told her that the Red Cross would not be preventing the members of our church from entering our own cabin, so it really didn’t matter. It was at that point we decided to stop back by the house and get my daughter’s camera so that she could take pictures if required.

From the moment I heard about Falls Creek being scheduled to receive refugees I had two thoughts run through my mind:

1. What a beautiful place to be able to stay while trying to get your life back in order.

2. What a terrible location to be when you’re trying to get your life back in order.

The first thought is because Falls Creek is nestled in the Arbuckle Mountains of south central Oklahoma. One of the more beautiful regions of the state. It would be a peaceful and beautiful place to try to start mending emotionally, and begin to figure what you’re going to do next.

The second thought comes because Falls Creek is very secluded and absolutely no where near a population center. The closest route from Falls Creek to a connecting road is three miles on a winding narrow road called "High Road" (It gets that name for two reasons – it’s goes over the mountain instead of around it like "Low Road" does, and it’s where the teenagers of the area go to party). The road has not a single home on it for over 3 miles. After battling that 3 miles over mountains, you’ll find yourself about 5 miles from the nearest town, Davis, Oklahoma, population ca. 2000. This is no place to start a new life.

A few pictures headed toward Falls Creek over High Road to give you a feel of the seclusion.

All of sudden the landscape changed from picturesque mountainous rural America, to something foreign to me as we approached the rear gate of the camp. Two Oklahoma State Patrol vehicles and four Oklahoma Troopers guarded the gate. We started through and they stopped us.

"Can I help you, ma’am?"

I informed him we’re here to deliver supplies to *our church’s name* cabin. He stood silent and stared at me. My daughter turned and snapped a picture of his vehicle – very conspicuously.
I smiled at him and he asked, "Do you know where that cabin is located?"

I informed him I did. He looked at me a bit longer and then said, "Ok" and stepped away from the car. They stopped my parents’ vehicle as well, but I assume my son informed them he was with us. They let them pass.
We made our way through the narrow streets toward our church’s cabin.

We noticed that the various church cabins had numbered placards on them that normally weren’t there.

We arrived at our cabin and started toting the clothes in. We finally found a group of men upstairs in the dorms trying to do something alien to them – make beds. They had almost completed the room of bunk beds and told us we could go over to the ladies’ dorm room and start on it. We lugged our sacks of clothes back down the stairs. Then we got the first negative message. "You can’t bring any clothes in. FEMA has stated they will accept no more clothes. They’ve had 30 people sorting clothes for days. They don’t want anymore." My mind couldn’t help but go back over the news articles that have accused FEMA of refusing water in to Jefferson Parrish, or turning fuel away.

We lugged the bags of clothes back to the car. We then turned to bringing in our personal hygiene products. That’s when we learned our cabin had been designated a "male only" cabin. Approximately 40 men, ranging from age 13 on up would be housed there. We started resacking the female products and sorted out everything that would be useful for men.

We lugged the bags of female products back to the car. We asked if they knew of a cabin that had been designated for women. The "host" (the hosts are Oklahoma civilians who have been employeed??? by FEMA to reside at each cabin and have already gone through at least one "orientation" meeting conducted by FEMA at "BASE" which is some unknown but repetitively referred location within the camp) told us he believed McAlester cabin was dedicated to females. He then explained there were male, female and family cabins designated.

We then started lugging in our food products. The foods I had purchased were mainly snacks, but my mother – God bless her soul – had gone all out with fresh vegetables, fruits, canned goods, breakfast cereals, rice, and pancake fixings. That’s when we got the next message: They will not be able to use the kitchen.

Excuse me? I asked incredulously.

FEMA will not allow any of the kitchen facilities in any of the cabins to be used by the occupants due to fire hazards. FEMA will deliver meals to the cabins. The refugees will be given two meals per day by FEMA. They will not be able to cook. In fact, the "host" goes on to explain, some churches had already enquired about whether they could come in on weekends and fix meals for the people staying in their cabin. FEMA won’t allow it because there could be a situation where one cabin gets steaks and another gets hot dogs – and…

it could cause a riot.

It gets worse.

He then precedes to tell us that some churches had already enquired into whether they could send a van or bus on Sundays to pick up any occupants of their cabins who might be interested in attending church. FEMA will not allow this. The occupants of the camp cannot leave the camp for any reason. If they leave the camp they may never return. They will be issued FEMA identification cards and "a sum of money" and they will remain within the camp for the next 5 months.

My son looks at me and mumbles "Welcome to Krakow."

My mother then asked if the churches would be allowed to come to their cabin and conduct services if the occupants wanted to attend. The response was "No ma’am. You don’t understand. Your church no longer owns this building. This building is now owned by FEMA and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. They have it for the next 5 months." This scares my mother who asks "Do you mean they have leased it?" The man replies, "Yes, ma’am…lock, stock and barrel. They have taken over everything that pertains to this facility for the next 5 months."

We then lug all food products requiring cooking back to the car. We start unloading our snacks. Mom appeared to have cornered the market in five counties on pop-tarts and apparently that was an acceptable snack so the guy started shoving them under the counter. He said these would be good to tied people over in between their two meals a day. But he tells my mother she must take all the breakfast cereal back. My mother protests that cereal requires no cooking. "There will be no milk, ma’am." My mother points to the huge industrial double-wide refrigerator the church had just purchased in the past year. "Ma’am, you don’t understand…

It could cause a riot."

He then points to the vegetables and fruit. "You’ll have to take that back as well. It looks like you’ve got about 10 apples there. I’m about to bring in 40 men. What would we do then?"

My mother, in her sweet, soft voice says, "Quarter them?"

"No ma’am. FEMA said no…

It could cause a riot. You don’t understand the type of people that are about to come here…."

I turn and walk out of the room…lugging all the healthy stuff back to the car. My son later tells me the man went on to say "We’ve already been told of teenage girls delivering fetuses on buses." My son steps toward him and says "That’s because they’ve almost been starved to death, haven’t had a decent place to get a good night’s sleep, and their bodies can’t keep a baby alive. I’m not sure that’s any evidence some one should be using to show these are ‘bad people’."

We then went to the second dorm room and made up beds. When we got through and were headed outside the host says to me and my daughter, "How did you get in here?" I told him we came in through the back gate. He replies, "No, HOW did you get in here? No one who doesn’t have credentials showing is supposed to be in here." (I had noticed all the "hosts" had two or three badges hanging around their necks.) I told him it might have had something to do with the fact my daughter was snapping pictures of the OHP presence at the gate. He then tells us, "Well, starting in the morning NO ONE comes in. So if you have further goods you want to donate you will have to take them to your local church. They will collect them until they have a full load and then bring them to the front gate."

Me and my two kids then walked over the hill to the camp’s amphitheater.

First – just another OHP car…

The amphitheater is full of clothes (but I’m not sure I’m seeing enough for 5000 people for 5 months).

But there was more…an Oklahoma Department of Safety truck and a military vehicle…

and a cell phone tower (which fretling didn’t get a pic of…grrr). Falls Creek, because it sits in a "bowl" surrounded by mountains, is notorious for no cell phone coverage.

There were buses coming in the front gate at about a rate of 1 every 2 or 3 minutes. We could hear them below us as we walked back up the hill. We could also see their white tops through the trees. We figured these were busloads of refugees arriving, but we never saw these buses in the camps, nor were any refugees visible at the camp while we were there.

We then loaded back into our vehicles and headed toward the cabin we had been told was for women so that we could off-load our appropriate products. When we arrived there was no one in the cabin so we preceded to unload our vehicles and take the merchandise in to the cabin. A horde of "hosts" who had been hovering at a nearby cabin head toward us.

"Can we help you?"

I explained to them what we were doing.

"Uhh… you can’t just leave donated goods in the cabins. FEMA has stated they want all supplies to go to their central warehouse. They said they have had far too many supplies come in and they need to handle them. You can’t leave ANY clothes."

I just stared at them.

One chubby-checker, after several moments of pregnant pause broken only by the sound of my 82 year old dad continuing to shuffle boxes out of the back of his car (GO DAD!), says "I’ll call "BASE" and confirm what should happen here."

I continue to stare.

He pounds out the number on his cell phone and when some one picks up he chickens out and just asks "I need to verify that cabin 11 is a female only facility." When he hangs up he says that it is and I respond, "Well, good, we’ll get on with this then." It’s at that point my son pulls me aside and says, "Every damned one of them have the same phone. That’s what the comm tower is for at the amphitheater. Now we know how FEMA runs through billions, they’ve given every one of these people a Cingular phone when walkie-talkies would have worked just fine."

We off-load our goods into the McAlester cabin. Fretling takes pics of the buckets of toys that have been donated by citizens for the kiddos coming this way.

We then start out of the camp. I tell my daughter I want to go out the main gate this time. Here is what we saw on the way out:

Just another OHP car…
This cabin was apparently commandeered by a group of people in navy blue jumpsuits with insignias all over them. You can see them in the left side of this pic. But they were standing all over the place on both sides of the narrow street.
This is just one OHP car in a long line of them parked along the side of the street.

Three firetrucks parked along the river.

Talk about a surreal moment…troops (unknown if Regular or National Guard) have taken up residency in the Durant First Baptist Church cabin very near the main gate of the camp.
Two things to point out in the pictures above…we passed a row of about 6 or 8 ambulances parked in the street just in front of the troop cabin, and the large tent on the top of the hill…we have no idea what that is for.

Main gate completely blocked by OHP vehicles as we approach:
More OHP vehicles parked at the rear gate as we pass by:

Now I’m starting to understand why it doesn’t matter that this location is not conducive to starting a new life.

Impeach Bush Now

 Impeach Bush Now
Paul Craig Roberts

September 3, 2005

raison d’être of the Bush administration is war in the Middle East
in order to protect America from terrorism and to insure America’s
oil supply. On both counts the Bush administration has failed catastrophically.

Bush’s single-minded focus on the "war against terrorism" has
compounded a natural disaster and turned it into the greatest calamity
in American history. The US has lost its largest and most strategic
port, thousands of lives, and 80% of one of America’s most historic
cities is under water.

If terrorists had achieved this result, it would rank as the greatest
terrorist success in history.
Prior to 911, the Federal Emergency Management Agency warned that New Orleans was a disaster waiting to happen. Congress authorized the
Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA) in order
to protect the strategic port, the refineries, and the large population.

However, after 2003 the flow of funds to SELA were diverted to the war in
Iraq. During 2004 and 2005 the New Orleans Times-Picayune published
nine articles citing New Orleans’ loss of hurricane protection to
the war in Iraq.

Every expert and newspapers as distant as Texas saw the New Orleans catastrophe
coming. But President Bush and his insane government preferred war
in Iraq to protecting Americans at home.

Bush’s war left the Corps of Engineers only 20% of the funding to protect
New Orleans from flooding from Lake Pontchartrain. On June 18, 2004,
the Corps’ project manager, Al Naomi, told the Times-Picayune: "the
levees are sinking. If we don’t get the money to raise them, we
can’t stay ahead of the settlement."

Despite the dire warnings delivered by the 2004 hurricane season, the Bush
administration made deep budget cuts for flood control and hurricane
funding for New Orleans. The US Senate, alarmed at the Bush administration’s
insanity, was planning to restore the funding for 2006. But now
it is too late. Many multiples of the funding that would have saved
the city now have to be spent to rescue it.

Not content with leaving New Orleans unprotected, it took the Bush administration
five days to get the remnants of the National Guard not serving
in Iraq, along with desperately needed food and water, to devastated
New Orleans. This is the slowest emergency response by the US government
in modern times. By the time the Bush administration could organize
any resources for New Orleans, many more people had died and the
city was in total chaos.

Despite the most dismal performance on record, Bush’s Homeland Security
Secretary, Michael Chertoff, said on Thursday that the Bush administration
has done a "magnificent job."

The on-the-scene mayor of New Orleans sees it differently: "They’re
feeding the people a line of bull, and they are spinning and people
are dying."

"They’re thinking small man, and this is a major, major deal."

It is a major deal, one that will affect Americans far beyond New Orleans.
According to reports, 25% of our oil and gasoline comes through
the New Orleans port and refineries, all out of commission. Needed
goods cannot be imported, and exports will plummet, worsening an
already disastrous deficit in the balance of trade.

The increased cost of gasoline will soak up consumers’ disposable incomes,
with dire effects on consumer spending. US economic growth will
be siphoned off into higher energy costs. American lives far from
New Orleans will be adversely affected.

The destruction of New Orleans is the responsibility of the most incompetent
government in American history and perhaps in all history. Americans
are rapidly learning that they were deceived by the superpower hubris.
The powerful US military cannot successfully occupy Baghdad or control
the road to the airport – and this against an insurgency based in
only 20% of the Iraqi population. Bush’s pointless war has left
Washington so pressed for money that the federal government abandoned
New Orleans to catastrophe.

The Bush administration is damned by its gross incompetence. Bush has
squandered the lives and health of thousands of people. He has run
through hundreds of billions of borrowed dollars. He has lost America’s
reputation and its allies. With barbaric torture and destruction
of our civil liberty, he has stripped America of its inherent goodness
and morality. And now Bush has lost America’s largest port and 25
percent of its oil supply. Why? Because Bush started a gratuitous
war egged on by a claque of crazy neoconservatives who have sacrificed
America’s interests to their insane agenda.

The neoconservatives have brought these disasters to all Americans,
Democrat and Republican alike. Now they must he held accountable.
Bush and his neoconservatives are guilty of criminal negligence
and must be prosecuted.

What will it take for Americans to reestablish accountability in their
government? Bush has got away with lies and an illegal war of aggression,
with outing CIA agents, with war crimes against Iraqi civilians,
with the horrors of the Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo torture centers,
and now with the destruction of New Orleans.

What disaster will next spring from Bush’s incompetence?

The Real Truth – Mystery Unfolds Over Hunt for WMD in Iraq

Mystery Unfolds Over Hunt for WMD in Iraq

Friday September 2, 2005 7:46 PM

AP Special Correspondent

Beneath the giant dome of a Baghdad palace, facing his team of scientists and engineers, George Tenet sounded more like a football coach than a spymaster, a coach who didn’t know the game was over.

“Are we 85 percent done?” the CIA boss demanded. The arms hunters knew what he wanted to hear. “No!” they shouted back. “Let me hear it again!” They shouted again.

The weapons are out there, Tenet insisted. Go find them.

Veteran inspector Rod Barton couldn’t believe his ears. “It was nonsense,” the Australian biologist said of that February evening last year, when the then-chief of U.S. intelligence secretly flew to Baghdad and dropped in on the lakeside Perfume Palace, chandelier-hung home of the Iraq Survey Group.

“It wasn’t that we didn’t know the major answers,” recalled Barton, whose account matched that of another key participant. “Are there WMD in the country? We knew the answers.”

In fact, David Kay, quitting as chief of the U.S. hunt for WMD, or weapons of mass destruction, had just delivered the answer to the world. The inspectors were 85 percent finished, Kay said, concluding: “The weapons do not exist.”

The story of the weapons that weren’t there, the prelude to war, was over, but a long post-mortem is still unfolding – of lingering questions in Washington, of revelations from investigations, leaks, first-person accounts. Some 52 percent of Americans believe the Bush administration deliberately misled them about the presence of banned arms in Iraq, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll taken in June.

Hans Blix, U.N. inspector, says Washington’s “virtual reality” about Iraq eventually collided with “our old-fashioned ordinary reality.” Now, drawing from findings of the Iraq Survey Group and other official investigations, from U.N., U.S., Iraqi and British documents, from Associated Press interviews and on-scene reporting, from books by Blix and others, it’s possible to reconstruct much of the “ordinary reality” of this extraordinary story, one that has changed the course of history.

The story could begin behind the creamy stone walls of another palace, the hilltop Hashemiyah outside Amman, Jordan, where in August 1995 a prize Iraqi defector was pouring out for interrogators whatever they wanted to know about Baghdad’s weapons of mass destruction.

Hussein Kamel, son-in-law of President Saddam Hussein, had headed Iraq’s advanced arms programs during the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s, when the Baathist regime unleashed chemical weapons against Iranian troops and Iraqi civilians in rebellious Kurdish areas.

What the U.N., American and other debriefers learned from Kamel led to headline-making successes for U.N. inspectors as they tracked down banned arms-making gear inside Iraq.

But an interrogation transcript shows he told them something else as well, something they questioned and kept to themselves: All Iraqi WMD were destroyed in 1991.

Hussein Kamel, soon to be killed by fellow clansmen as a traitor, was telling the truth.

The U.N. experts had entered Iraq in 1991, after U.S.-led forces drove Iraq’s invasion army from Kuwait in a lightning war, and the U.N. Security Council required the defeated nation to submit to inspections and destruction of its unconventional arms.

The inspectors withdrew in late 1998, in a dispute over access to sites. By then, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) teams could report that Iraq’s nuclear program, which never built a bomb, had been dismantled. As for chemical and biological weapons, only scattered questions remained about possible hidden stockpiles.

In fact, as President George W. Bush took office 25 months later, the CIA was reporting, “We do not have any direct evidence” Baghdad was rebuilding its WMD programs.

But Baghdad was on Bush’s mind.

The new president quickly called an inner Cabinet meeting to discuss Iraq as a destabilizing force in the Mideast, ex-Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill recalls in the book, “The Price of Loyalty.” Tenet unrolled a grainy satellite photo of an Iraqi factory, suggested it was making banned weapons, but said his CIA didn’t really know, O’Neill said.

Washington and Baghdad had glowered at each other throughout Bill Clinton’s presidency, but for a decade it was largely a cold war. Now Bush was ending this White House meeting by ordering Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld to study possible military action, O’Neill said. Soon U.S. policymakers began hearing more about Iraq.

In April 2001, Pentagon intelligence said satellites spotted construction at old nuclear sites. Was Iraq resuming bomb research? That same month a CIA report told of another “indicator”: Iraq was shopping for thousands of high-strength aluminum tubes, said to be useful as cores of centrifuges to enrich uranium, the stuff of atom bombs.

Then a shipment of the tubes was intercepted in neighboring Jordan, news that upset Baghdad’s military industry chief. Abdel Tawab Huweish needed those tubes – 3 feet long, 3 inches wide – to make standard artillery rockets. He now ordered another metal be found, one that wouldn’t arouse U.S. suspicions, Huweish later told U.S. arms investigators.

On April 11, 2001, a day after the classified CIA report was distributed, the Energy Department filed a swift dissent. Energy, home of U.S. centrifuge specialists, said the tubes’ dimensions weren’t well-suited for centrifuges, and were more likely meant for artillery rockets. The U.N. nuclear agency, the Vienna-based IAEA, told U.S. officials the same.

Evidence shows Iraq in 2001 had little interest in nuclear “reconstitution.” In one captured document from that May, Iraqi diplomats in Kenya reported to Baghdad that a Ugandan businessman had offered uranium for sale, but they turned him away, saying U.N. sanctions forbade it.

Meanwhile, other supposed WMD “indicators” were surfacing.

The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) for months had been receiving reports from German intelligence about an Iraqi defector, code-named “Curveball,” who claimed to have worked on a project to build concealed bioweapons labs atop truck trailers.

Around this time, in June 2001, the trailers that U.S. officials later thought confirmed his account were ordered built at the al-Kindi factory in northern Iraq, inspectors would learn. Contract No. 73/MD/RG/2001 called not for secret weapons labs, however, but for two trailer units to make hydrogen for weather balloons. By this time, too, U.S. intelligence had been informed that Curveball was a possible alcoholic and “out of control.”

The tubes tale, Curveball’s account and other questionable stories about Iraqi WMD would survive for two years, in presidential speeches and newspaper headlines, on the road to war.

For now, in the summer of 2001, Iraq was back-page news. But Condoleezza Rice, national security adviser, assured an interviewer, “Saddam Hussein is on the radar screen.” By summer’s end, in the traumatic aftermath of Sept. 11’s terror, he was in the crosshairs.

On the day after Sept. 11, the talk in the White House Situation Room was of “getting Iraq,” says former White House anti-terrorism chief Richard A. Clarke. Clarke’s memoir says an insistent Bush ordered him to look for “any shred” to tie Iraq to the Sept. 11 attacks – even though U.S. agencies knew al-Qaida was responsible and Iraq wasn’t linked to the terror group.

The immediate target was Afghanistan, however, invaded by U.S. forces in October 2001, and as 2002 began the WMD case against Iraq remained unimpressive. In his annual unclassified review, Tenet didn’t even cite evidence of an imminent Iraqi nuclear threat. But Vice President Dick Cheney apparently thought he’d found such evidence, in a DIA report.

It told of a deal in 2000 in which Iraq bought 500 tons of uranium concentrate from Niger in central Africa. The information came from Italian intelligence, based on what it said was an official Niger document. Because of Cheney’s interest, the CIA dispatched a seasoned Africa hand, ex-diplomat Joseph Wilson, to Niger to check it out.

After dozens of interviews, Wilson reported back that the story appeared unfounded. The State Department’s intelligence bureau also deemed it implausible. In addition, the text of the supposed Niger document, transcribed for the Americans by the Italians, contained misspellings and mistaken titles for people that should have been easily detectable.

It was a forgery. But “Niger uranium” had won a place in the case against Iraq.

In Iraq itself, the government was far from resurrecting a bomb program: In April 2002 workers in the western desert were busy smelting down the last gear from a long-defunct uranium-enrichment project, U.S. inspectors later learned.

Around this time, U.S. satellite reconnaissance was doubled over suspected Iraqi WMD sites, and analysts soon reported stepped-up activity, suggesting renewed production, at possible chemical weapons factories. What they apparently didn’t realize, however, was that activity was being photographed more frequently – not that there necessarily was more activity.

The White House, meanwhile, worked on a political plan.

Leaked British documents show that Prime Minister Tony Blair told Bush at his Texas ranch in April 2002 that London would support military action to oust Saddam. But the British set conditions: Washington should seek re-entry of U.N. inspectors – which Saddam was expected to refuse – and then Security Council authorization for war.

Blair’s Cabinet fretted. Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, in the secret minutes of a July 2002 meeting, observed that the case for war was “thin” but Bush had made up his mind. Intelligence chief Richard Dearlove, fresh from high-level Washington talks, also told the 10 Downing St. session that war had become inevitable, and U.S. intelligence was being “fixed” around this policy.

Blair and U.S. officials now deny war was predetermined and intelligence “fixed” to that end. From midsummer 2002 on, however, the Bush administration sharply stepped up its anti-Iraq rhetoric, along with U.S. air attacks on Iraqi defenses, done under cover of patrols over the “no-fly zones,” swaths of Iraqi airspace denied to Iraqi aircraft. It also stepped up its citing of questionable intelligence.

As early as July 29, Rumsfeld spoke publicly of reports of Iraqi bioweapons labs “on wheels in a trailer” that can “make a lot of bad stuff.”

A second Iraqi exile source had echoed Curveball’s talk of such trailers. He was judged a fabricator by the CIA in early 2002, but by July his statements were back in classified U.S. reports. As for Curveball, whose veracity was never checked by the DIA, within three months his German handlers would be telling the CIA he was unreliable, a “waste of time.”

As the summer wore on, Cheney struck an urgent, unequivocal tone in public.

“Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction,” the vice president told veterans assembled at an Opryland hotel in Nashville.

In an unusual move, Cheney shuttled to the CIA through mid-2002 to visit analysts – 10 times, according to Patricia Wald, a member of the presidential investigative commission headed by Judge Laurence Silberman and ex-U.S. Sen. Charles Robb. The commission concluded analysts “worked in an environment that did not encourage skepticism about the conventional wisdom.”

That conventional wisdom took on more urgency on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, when the lead article in The New York Times, citing unnamed administration officials, said Iraq “has embarked on a worldwide hunt for materials to make an atomic bomb.”

The “tubes” story had been resurrected. Condoleezza Rice went on the TV talk circuit that morning saying the tubes were suited only for uranium centrifuges. Four days later in New York, President Bush was at the marble podium of the U.N. General Assembly, demanding the world body take action on Iraq or become “irrelevant.” He, too, cited the aluminum tubes – proof of danger.

But neither the Times story nor administration officials hinted at the background debate over whether the tubes, in reality, were meant for Huweish’s rockets. In fact, a CIA officer had recently suggested obtaining dimensions of an Italian rocket on which the Iraqi design was based, to compare them with the tubes. His idea was rejected.

As U.S. officials built up the threat, Saddam handed them a surprise: Iraq would allow Blix’s U.N. inspectors back unconditionally.

Bush promptly labeled the Sept. 16 announcement a “ploy.” But Iraq’s foreign minister, Naji Sabri, told the General Assembly his country was “totally clear” of banned arms.

Democratic senators, wary as war momentum built in Washington, demanded a comprehensive intelligence report on Iraq. The CIA and other agencies patched together a classified National Intelligence Estimate, made available to lawmakers in early October.

Its unclassified version, a 25-page White Paper, was packed with “probablys,” “mays” and “coulds,” uncertainties that somehow led to certainties: “Iraq has continued its weapons of mass destruction programs,” and “Baghdad has chemical and biological weapons.”

It would eventually emerge that the DIA, a month before the White Paper, had reported there was “no reliable information” on Iraqi chemical weapons production, and it didn’t know the nature, amounts or condition of any biological weapons.

Across the Atlantic, Blair’s government issued an assessment like the U.S. estimate, with conclusions unsupported by evidence.

“We were told there was other intelligence that we, the experts, could not see,” senior British government analyst Brian Jones has since said. It later became clear such intelligence never existed, Jones said.

The Australian biologist Barton, a 1990s weapons inspector who by 2002 was a top Blix aide, was amazed at the British report’s unexplained claim that Iraq could “deploy” chemical or biological weapons “within 45 minutes” – a claim picked up by Bush in a radio address.

Over an Irish-pub dinner in New York, Barton asked old friend David Kelly, a British bioweapons specialist, how he could have allowed something “so silly” in the report. “He just shook his head and said something like, ‘People put in what they want to put in,”’ Barton recalled.

Months later Kelly would commit suicide, caught in a political furor as a source for news reports that the WMD dossier was “sexed up.”

The 93-page classified U.S. report had more qualifiers than the White Paper. But Wald says her commission learned that only 17 Congress members read the lengthier estimate. On Oct. 10-11, the two houses voted overwhelmingly to authorize Bush to use military force against Iraq.

Then the U.N. Security Council unanimously voted Nov. 8 to send Blix’s inspectors to Iraq with expanded powers. It denied Washington “trigger” authority, however, to attack if the Americans deemed Iraq in violation of the resolution.

Blix knew U.S. leaders were impatient. In his book on the crisis, he writes that he met with Cheney at the White House and was told inspections could not go on forever, and Washington “was ready to discredit inspections in favor of disarmament” – that is, forcible disarmament.

On Nov. 27, 2002, the U.N. teams returned to Iraq. Springing surprise inspections across the countryside, the experts soon were debunking U.S. claims. At the Fallujah II chemical plant, for example, caught in a satellite’s camera lens in the October U.S. estimate, they found the production line long broken-down.

By December, Saddam was informing senior generals in secret meetings that Iraq truly had no chemical or biological arms, U.S. investigators later learned. Baghdad’s troops would have to fight without them.

Back in Washington, WMD “indicators” were being further undercut. “The Administration will ultimately look foolish – i.e. the tubes and Niger!” an Energy Department analyst told a colleague in an e-mail later uncovered by Senate Intelligence Committee investigators.

Preparing for Bush’s 2003 State of the Union address, and sensing the weakness, Rice’s national security staff asked the CIA for more. It responded with the report of a Niger uranium sale.

That story had grown still more dubious since Wilson’s Niger visit 11 months earlier.

In October 2002, the State Department had obtained a copy of the original “Niger document.” Its analysts told sister agencies they suspected forgery, and in mid-January alerted all that it “probably is a hoax.” In October, too, Tenet had warned Rice’s deputy, Stephen Hadley, against using the alleged uranium sale in a Bush speech.

This time, however, Hadley accepted the uranium nugget – though attributed to the British – to bolster the State of the Union speech.

The tubes story also had slipped deeper into murkiness. State Department intelligence was siding with Energy in viewing them as likely rocket casings. The CIA arranged for centrifuge-like testing of the tubes in January, and they seemed to fail, only to supposedly pass after a “correction” was made.

On Jan. 28, 2003, with the world listening, Bush delivered his annual address.

“The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa,” he said. “Our intelligence sources tell us that he has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes suitable for nuclear weapons production.”

The U.S. chief executive also claimed Iraq had mobile bioweapons labs, but this story of Curveball’s would fall further apart in the coming days.

On Feb. 3, 2003, word went up the CIA ladder that this Iraqi informant’s German handlers “cannot vouch for the validity of the information.” The next day, Senate investigators found, a CIA superior e-mailed a worried analyst that “this war’s going to happen regardless of what Curve Ball said or didn’t say.”

The timing was critical – the eve of a pivotal presentation by Colin Powell.

That next morning, at the U.N. Security Council’s horseshoe table, with CIA chief Tenet behind him, the secretary of state delivered an 80-minute indictment of Iraq, complete with aluminum tubes, up to “500 tons of chemical weapons agent,” and artist’s conceptions of Curveball’s questionable “mobile labs.”

Powell’s sources went unidentified, tapes of intercepted conversation were cryptic, claims made about satellite photos were uncorroborated.

It turned out the State Department’s own analysts had warned, futilely, against saying vehicles in spy photos were chemical “decontamination trucks,” since they might be simple water trucks. And a senior CIA officer has told investigators he raised the Curveball concerns with Tenet the night before the speech, something Tenet denies.

After watching the performance on CNN in Baghdad, Amer al-Saadi, Iraqi liaison for the inspections, lamented that “the fiction goes on. It goes on and on.”

But Powell’s sober authority worked in America, where support for action soared.

On the ground in Iraq, meanwhile, Blix’s inspectors grew frustrated at the Iraqis’ failure to explain leftover discrepancies from the 1990s. The chief inspector emphasized, however, that “unaccounted for” didn’t necessarily mean weapons existed.

In one example, former Iraqi bioweapons specialists would eventually tell U.S. arms hunters that they never documented destruction of one batch of their anthrax in 1991 because it was dumped near a Saddam palace. They feared the dictator’s wrath.

By January 2003, the experts from Blix’s U.N. commission and Mohamed ElBaradei’s IAEA had inspected 13 major “facilities of concern” from the previous fall’s U.S. and British reports, and found no signs of weapons-making. The IAEA publicly exposed the Niger document as a forgery, and found the aluminum tubes poor candidates for centrifuges. Checking supposed sites for manufacturing mobile labs, Blix’s teams debunked Curveball’s tale at the Iraq end.

Washington was unmoved. Administration loyalists dismissed the “so-called inspections.” In late February 2003, a Powell aide sternly told Blix nothing would suffice short of Iraq’s unveiling its “secret hide sites.” Most significantly, Bush ordered no reassessment of his government’s collapsing claims.

Blix told the Security Council he could complete the work within months. The White House wasn’t interested. “More time, more inspectors, more process, in our judgment, is not going to affect the peace of the world,” Bush said on March 6, as the Pentagon counted down toward war.

Cheney at one point even told a TV audience – without challenge from the host – that Iraq possessed nuclear weapons. Of ElBaradei, whose IAEA refuted the claims about uranium and tubes, Cheney said, “I think Mr. ElBaradei, frankly, is wrong.” But the CIA had already accepted ElBaradei’s judgment on the Niger uranium document.

On March 17, in New York, U.S. diplomats gave up trying to win Security Council backing for war. That evening, on television, Bush told the American people there was “no doubt” Iraq had “some of the most lethal weapons ever devised.”

The bombing began two days later, and as U.S. troops swept up the Tigris and Euphrates plain to easy victory, they searched for WMD. “We know where they are,” Rumsfeld claimed on March 30. But despite a flurry of false “finds” by eager troops, they weren’t there.

Finally, on April 19, U.S. weapons hunters celebrated: An equipment-packed truck trailer had been seized in northern Iraq.

Just before the war, al-Kindi company technicians had tested the unit and it worked, its tubes spewing hydrogen for weather balloons. They could deliver on the 2001 contract. To empty-handed U.S. analysts, however, the vehicle and a second trailer looked like the artist’s conception of Curveball’s mobile labs, ready to concoct killer germs.

The White House embraced this illusion. “We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories,” President Bush assured Polish television on May 29. By then, however, experts had tested a trailer and found no trace of pathogens or toxins.

“They have weapons of mass destruction. That is what this war was about,” White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said on April 10. But soon the Washington line shifted to claims Iraq had not weapons, but WMD “programs” – also untrue, inspectors later certified. Then the war was framed as one to democratize Iraq.

Through 2003, Iraqis watched their land slip into a chaos of looting, terror bombings and anti-American insurgency. “A country was destroyed because of weapons that don’t exist!” Baghdad University’s president, Nihad Mohammed al-Rawi, despaired to an AP reporter.

Month by month, David Kay and his 1,500-member Iraq Survey Group labored over documents, visited sites, interrogated detained scientists and came to recognize reality. But when he wanted to report it, Kay ran into roadblocks in Washington.

“There was an absolutely closed mind,” Kay tells AP. “They would not look at alternative explanations in these cases,” specifically the aluminum tubes and bioweapons trailers.

In December 2003, Kay flew back to Washington and met with Tenet and CIA deputy John McLaughlin. “I couldn’t budge John, and so I couldn’t budge George,” he says. Kay resigned, telling the U.S. Congress there had been no WMD threat.

Ex-CIA spokesman Bill Harlow, speaking for Tenet, points out that Kay himself, in Senate testimony at the time, said the tubes remained an “open question,” although it was “more than probable” they were rocket casings.

The Bush administration then sent Charles Duelfer – like Kay a senior U.N. inspector from the 1990s – to take over the arms hunt. He arrived in time for Tenet’s secret visit and palace pep talk on Feb. 12, 2004, but, like Kay before him, Duelfer could find no sign of WMD.

Still, the pressure continued. Barton, recruited as a Duelfer adviser, told AP the American chief inspector received an e-mail that March from John Scarlett, head of Britain’s Joint Intelligence Committee, urging that nine “nuggets,” past allegations, be dropped back into an interim report by Duelfer’s group.

Those “sexy bits,” as the Australian called them, are believed to have included, for example, baseless speculation that Iraq worked to weaponize smallpox. Duelfer called the nuggets “fool’s gold,” Barton says, and left them out.

Asked about this, the British Foreign Office said Scarlett contacted Iraq Survey Group leaders as part of his job, but that the report’s content was Duelfer’s responsibility alone.

Barton said CIA officers in the Iraq Survey Group insisted that its reporting should not discredit the mobile-labs story “because that contradicts what Tenet has said.” They also wanted the report to suggest the tubes might have been for centrifuges, although Duelfer’s experts concluded otherwise.

Duelfer’s interim testimony to Congress in March 2004 said nothing about mobile labs and said the tubes remained under study.

As late as Sept. 30 last year, in an election debate, Bush stuck to his views.

“Saddam Hussein had no intention of disarming,” Bush maintained.

A week before, Duelfer had conveyed his 1,000-page final report to the CIA, saying Saddam had disarmed 13 years earlier.
